Sketchy service.
In reading the highly positive reviews of this company/system, I'm forced to believe that the positive reviews were possibly written by their own marketing dept.
My personal experience:
My relationship with this email system is the free trial version (prior to purchasing the upgrade).
In my experience - The system has substandard quality and reliability. Used it twice - it worked once. A 50% success rate will not prompt my desire to upgrade.
The company appears to be under-equipped and under-staffed.
A simple inquiry to the support staff results in an automated "we've received your request and will immediately take action" message - followed later by what appears to be a human response, stating "your problem will be sent to out Tier 2 support team" - followed days later with another response that "you must contact our next support level" - followed days later with the "we apologize, and will look into your problem" - followed by an automated questionnaire/survey - followed by nothing.
The templates (basically, 4 of them offered for free version) are fairly simple to use. The response controls are sufficient. Creating your letter and importing art/photos/text is easy (as it is in most other email sending systems). Organization of contact list(s) through this system is prehistoric. List cannot be organized in any sensible order.
I hope this review helps somebody, so as to not waste the hours and hours of time that I have while attempting to send a single page email.

I'm very happy with VerticalResponse- I had already tried a couple other services and didn't quite get accustomed to the "feel" of the interface, yet VR's workflow just makes sense to me. I have nothing at all to complain about - the pricing is fair and the services they offer have just been brought up to par with their latest updated (added social media features, etc). I have no rating entered for customer support because luckily I've never had to use them as like I said, their page is just so well documented. Definitely recommended to anyone looking to start a newsletter!
